Flyball
Flyball is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Racing side by side, one dog from each team must go over four hurdles, trigger a flyball box pedal, catch and retrieve a ball, and then return over all four hurdles to the start/finish line where the next dog eagerly awaits his or her turn at the action. This repeats until all four dogs have completed the relay. The team with the best time and fewest errors earns the most points. Titles for the dogs are earned based on the amount of points the dogs have earned.

Head Flyball Instructors
Mark and Barb Christine
Mark and Barb Christine from Massillon will be teaching flyball classes. They compete with the team Fur In A Blur from Elyria, Ohio with their rescue dogs Scarlet (red Australian Cattle Dog) and Maizen Blue (blue Australian Cattle Dog). They have been training and competing in flyball for 2-1/2 years. Their team competes in both the NAFA (North American Flyball Association) league and UFLI (United Flyball League International) league. In the UFLI league, the dogs have competed in singles and pairs racing as well. Scarlet holds the flyball titles FD, FDX, FDCh, FDCh-S and FDCh-G. She currently has the fastest time on her team, at 3.92 seconds and received third place in the 2006 Fastest Dog in Ohio competition for her division. Maizen has only been competing since Nov.2005 but has already earned the titles FD, FDX, FDCh and FDCh-S. Her best time to date is 4.52 seconds and she received second place in the 2006 Fastest Dog in Ohio competition for her division. Both dogs are positively ball-obsessed and the mention of the word flyball sends them into a frenzy. Mark and Barb have spent many fun-filled weekends with their team and their dogs competing throughout Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Recently, the team was featured on Cleveland's Fox 8 KickinT it with Kenny segment and also perform at various dog sport demonstrations throughout Ohio benefiting animal welfare groups.
